A quick and easy homemade radish relish that adds a fresh, tangy, and slightly sweet flavor boost to sandwiches, grilled meats, and more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (120g) radishes, thinly sliced or chopped
  • 1/4 cup (40g) red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1g) freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse about 1 cup (120g) of fresh radishes. Trim the ends and slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thick) or chop into small pieces for a finer texture.
  2. Finely dice 1/4 cup (40g) of red onion. If raw onion is too strong, soak in cold water for 5 minutes then drain well.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons (30ml) apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon (5ml) honey, 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt, and 1/4 teaspoon (1g) freshly ground black pepper. Whisk or stir until honey dissolves and mixture is well blended.
  4. Add the sliced radishes and chopped onion to the bowl with the dressing. Toss to coat evenly.
  5. If using, fold in 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill or parsley.
  6. Cover the bowl or transfer the relish into an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes before serving to let flavors meld.

Notes

For vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar. You can add crushed red pepper flakes or jalapeño for heat. Use fresh, crisp radishes for best texture. Do not over-marinate to maintain crunch.
