Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 ripe but firm bananas (yellow with a few brown spots)
  • 1 teaspoon melted coconut oil or avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • A few drops of lemon juice (optional)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, nutmeg, extra maple syrup, nut butter, mini dark chocolate chips, chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
  2. Peel and slice 2-3 ripe bananas into ½-inch (1.25 cm) thick rounds, keeping slices uniform.
  3. In a mixing bowl, gently coat banana slices with 1 teaspoon melted coconut or avocado oil.
  4. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon and a pinch of sea salt over the slices.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey if desired for extra sweetness.
  6. Arrange banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  7. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping slices halfway through cooking.
  8. Remove bananas when edges are golden and crisp; let cool for 2 minutes.
  9. Add optional toppings such as chopped nuts, nutmeg, or extra maple syrup if desired.

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas for best caramelization and texture. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure crisp edges. Flip slices halfway through cooking for even crisping. Start checking at 7 minutes to prevent burning. Slice bananas just before cooking to minimize browning; a few drops of lemon juice can help slow browning. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat gently in the air fryer.
