  • ½ cup (120 ml) Baileys Irish Cream
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (90 g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ cup (60 g) chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition to create a glossy mixture. Stir in the vanilla extract and Baileys Irish Cream until fully incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a rubber spatula, folding gently just until no streaks remain. Avoid overmixing to keep brownies fudgy. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Start checking at 30 minutes by inserting a toothpick near the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter. Edges should look set and slightly pulled away from the pan.
  7. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Use the parchment overhang to lift brownies out for clean cuts.
