A quick and easy recipe for crispy, flavorful broccoli made in the air fryer in just 10 minutes. Perfect as a healthy snack or side dish with a satisfying crunch and versatile seasoning options.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets (about 300 grams), washed and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml), preferably extra virgin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (1.5 grams)
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (0.75 grams), optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (3 grams), sea salt or kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (0.5 grams)
  • Optional add-ons:
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese (10 grams)
  • Pinch of chili flakes
  • Lemon zest or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it run empty for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Wash and dry the broccoli thoroughly. Cut into small, bite-sized florets (about 4 cups or 300 grams).
  3. Place the broccoli florets in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil, then sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder (if using), salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat evenly.
  4. Arrange the broccoli in a single layer inside the preheated air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes total, shaking the basket or flipping the broccoli with tongs halfway through (around 5 minutes) for even crisping.
  6. Check for doneness; the broccoli should be golden brown at the edges and tender inside. Add 1-2 more minutes if you want it crispier, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Optional: Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, chili flakes, or a squeeze of lemon juice while still hot and toss gently to combine.
  8. Serve immediately for best texture.

Notes

Pat broccoli dry thoroughly before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to allow even cooking. Toss or shake the basket halfway through cooking for best results. Use high smoke point oils like olive, avocado, or grapeseed oil. Add fresh herbs or lemon zest after cooking to preserve brightness. For a smoky flavor, add smoked paprika. If using frozen broccoli, thaw and dry well before cooking.
