These crispy air fried Babybel cheese bites are a quick and easy snack with a crunchy coating and gooey cheese center, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Original Babybel cheese rounds (red wax wrapped)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (60g)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten, room temperature
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (100g)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Pinch of salt
  • Cooking spray or oil mist

Instructions

  1. Unwrap the Babybel cheese by carefully removing the red wax from each round. Chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes if cheese feels too soft.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with ½ cup flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt.
  3. Coat each cheese bite by rolling in flour, dipping in egg wash, then rolling in breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere.
  4. Repeat the egg wash and breadcrumb coating for a double coat to ensure extra crunch.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  6. Place coated cheese bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and gooey, optionally with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or honey mustard.

Notes

Chill the cheese before coating to prevent melting. Double coat with breadcrumbs for extra crunch. Spray lightly with oil before air frying. Flip halfway through cooking for even crisping. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Can bake in a convection oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes if no air fryer is available.
